Great board. Not a typical digital mixing board

Great board. Not a typical digital mixing board. On-board compression is very useful. Effects are good to. I am using this board strictly for recording. Very clean sound and packed with features.

The Swiss-Army Knife in my Setup

Originally I turned to the Behringer UFX line of mixers only after Tascam ceased support for the M-164UF on Mac. Since then, however, I became a real fan. In day-to-day use, all the right signal routing options are available, be it recording options on all channels such as pre versus post fader to the super-convenient ability to capture a rough mix on main directly into the DAW. It's become the centerpiece of my setup.

    Not To Be Overlooked

Tho it seems to be. Not many user reviews. That might change, as Sound On Sound gave it a stellar review in Dec '15. I just read it, because I have had the unit almost 2 years, and already knew. It did come with one of the headphone outs funky (pro audio talk for not working), but in true Sweetwater fashion, they sent me a perfect NEW one even BEFORE they received my funky one! Since then, no problems. Don' believe me? OK, here is a quote from the SOS review: "Given the number of features on offer and its incredibly low price, you’d be forgiven for expecting this mixer to be flawed in some way. It isn’t!" SOS also added: "Cons: None". I would add that for Sweetwater as well. And, if you register within 90 days with Behringer, 3 year warranty. We are quickly approaching no-brainer territory. Perfect for USB 16 channel live-gig RECORDING while mixing....(forgot that, didn't you), either direct to laptop, or external HD. I have used both on my Win 7/64 HP g6 Pavilion laptop w/i5 dual core, glitch free. I have a Behringer FCA 1616 as my main recording interface, used problem free for 3 years (I think the negative reviews are mostly re: Firewire, I use USB). Plan to sell it soon and get an Audient iD14. Keep the UFX1604 for when I need more ins, like recording a drum kit. Which the unit is perfect for, with 8 mic pres with compressors. Like I said, read the SOS review.
